KPXN PAX TV 30 Los Angeles 1994 - current

During my nearly 7 years at KPXN, I accomplished three studio moves and took the facility from an all tape Infomercial facility to the full network affiliate it is today as part of the KNBC campus in Burbank. Most recently, the installation of a LOUTH automation system for programming play-out from Tektronix Profile file servers replaced an older similar system I specified and installed in 1998 for the launch of the PAX TV network in Los Angeles.
I prepared FCC applications for KPXN-DT 38 and have done all preliminary planning and specifications for KPXN DT channel 38 to be constructed at Mt. Harvard near Mt. Wilson serving Los Angeles. I have also prepared FCC applications for KPXN NTSC to move from the historical channel 30 transmitter site that is operated now on Sunset Ridge to join the digital transmitter on Mt. Harvard. I am in charge of all maintenance at the KPXN transmitter and extensive microwave feed facility that sends KPXN to cable headends in Ventura, Palmdale and Barstow.
I was also in charge of all office internet specifications and distribution, taking this over from the corporate MIS department at Paxson and giving KPXN and the PAX Entertainment division high speed office internet in 1998.
Additionally, as a side item, I also do a small amount of talent work at KPXN, where I voice the “PAX 30 NEWS at 7 and 11:30” news openers for those two weekday broadcasts.

KNET 38 Los Angeles 1992 - 1994

I installed three ITS transmitters for World Television, KNET 38 in Hollywood, Ca, Sylmar, CA, and Riverside, CA.  Additionally, I traveled to Houston TX, Phoenix AZ, and Charlotte NC to accomplish similar installations for this operator, who currently operates KTUD 25, UPN for Las Vegas.

“MARS – FM” KSRF and KOCM 103.1 Santa Monica and Newport Beach 1991 - 1992

Designing and installing a groundbreaking synchronization system to make these two short spaced same frequency FM stations a seamless signal along the Los Angeles beach cities was the accomplishment I am proud of here. A paper was presented about this at the 1992 NAB convention.

KREQ TV 23 Eureka – Arcata, CA 1986 – 1989

Installing a full power FOX affiliate to serve this California coastal community was the job accomplished here.

KITS FM 105.3 San Francisco, CA  1984 – 1986

I installed a new transmitter and studio for the live audience “Alex Bennett Show” for this San Francisco FM.

KROQ FM 106.7 Los Angeles, CA  1980 – 1984
Working with program director Rick Caroll and “Freddy Snakeskin”, I installed transmitter equipment that turned this FM in to a market leader in the 1980’s
